Frequently asked questions about electric mobility

  • What is the real-world range of an electric car?

It is often lower than the manufacturer’s stated range (WLTP cycle). It varies with speed, outside temperature, use of heating or air conditioning and driving style: on the motorway and in cold weather, it drops noticeably. ACL’s vehicle tests give you real-world feedback.

  • Where can I charge my electric car in Luxembourg?

At home with a wallbox, at work or on the public network. In Luxembourg, the national public Chargy network is complemented by SuperChargy fast chargers and by private operators. For trips abroad, check in advance which charging cards and apps are accepted.

  • What grants are available for buying an electric car in Luxembourg?

The Luxembourg government supports the purchase of electric vehicles and the installation of charging stations through grants whose amounts and conditions change regularly. For up-to-date details, see our Grants and subsidies page.

  • Electric or hybrid: which should I choose?

It depends on how you drive: daily distance, long journeys, and whether you can charge at home or at work. ACL’s free Find your powertrain test compares electric, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, petrol and diesel based on your profile, with complete neutrality.

  • Which charging station should I install at home?

For charging at home, ACL recommends the go-e charging station. Its partner electrician, Den Elektriker, advises members on choosing and installing the charging station.
