What is the resale value of an electric car?

In short: the resale value of a used electric car depends on several factors. Among them, the battery’s state of health (SoH) plays an important role. An independent battery diagnosis can bring more transparency and confidence when it comes to selling.

Beyond the general condition, age and mileage of the vehicle, the battery therefore deserves particular attention. Here are two points to know before buying or selling a used electric vehicle.

What affects depreciation

The right reflex

➕Early-generation EVs can depreciate faster, partly because of falling new-car prices and rapidly changing technology.➖The battery’s state of health (SoH) is a key indicator: it shows the remaining battery capacity compared with its original condition.
➕Recent models with a longer range can hold their value better.➖Without recent information on the battery’s condition, it can be harder for a buyer to value the vehicle accurately.
➕The remaining battery warranty and the service history can also affect the vehicle’s value.➖A recent battery diagnosis brings more transparency and can make the sale easier.
