Volkswagen Touareg R eHybrid

Published on 19.07.2021

More performance, less pollution

With its imposing silhouette and piercing edge, the new Touareg R certainly looks as if it means business! Complete with plug-in hybrid technology, this Volkswagen SUV is the brand's most powerful model.
Proudly displaying the unmistakable ‘R’ style with black detail on the grille, decorative strips and even exterior mirror casings, the Touareg R also conceals a V6 turbo engine beneath its hood. Assisted by an electric engine powered by a 13kWh battery, its combined power is 462hp with a maximum torque of 700Nm, enough to enable this big tomcat to perform pretty impressively, too!
This ‘sporty’ feel continues inside, with its diamond stitching, Sepang Blue seat piping and sports multifunction steering wheel in perforated leather bearing the ‘R’ logo. The cockpit boasts two linked screens that form a single unit facing the driver, whilst the touch controls, which allow you to control the central screen with a simple hand movement, are also worth pointing out.
The Touareg R eHybrid claims to offer an electric range of 47km (WLTP), though it is less than this in practice, depending on driving style and weather conditions. An actual range of 30-35km is, however, perfectly achievable, and enough to cover most day-to-day journeys made by large families in urban areas in zero-emission mode.
