Automobile club Luxembourg

The car of the year 2022, as chosen by the public, was unveiled at a gala held in Hesperange, and this 29th edition of the event saw Audi take the title.

Members of the public were, as always invited to vote for their favourite car from a selection of a hundred or so models divided into 10 categories. A total of 32,651 votes were cast this year - up 21.5% on the last time the vote was held.

In the run-up to the ceremony, a conference on the issue of electromobility in the context of the war in Ukraine and the effects of the health crisis was held. Three experts from Aral (Romain Hoffmann), Goodyear (Romain Hansen) and Diego were invited to discuss the issues at hand.





 The following topics were notably discussed:

• Energy supplies
• Renewable energy
• Synthetic fuels
• Technological developments in the tyre industry (new tyre production method using 70% renewable material, airless tyres, etc.)
• The challenges of recharging electric cars at home, in residential blocks and in public places

The results of the public vote were then revealed, with German brands proving very popular and the Audi e-tron GT coming out on top.
