The chinese ADV bike comes of age

The redesigned Benelli TRK 502 X is an interesting alternative for beginners who want something other than a chopper or a naked bike.

Benelli is a name that evokes memories of legendary motorbikes, such as the distinctive Tornado Tre 1130 from 2003. But Benelli is now part of the China-based Qianjiang Group, which produces more than 1.2 million vehicles.
 
Visually, this little motorcycle is attractive and can easily be mistaken for a big German touring bike. The comfort level is also impressive. Tall people will feel comfortable on this 502. The seat height is 85.5 cm and the driver’s seat has been redesigned for improved ergonomics this year. The seating position is relaxed, the knee angle is generous, the windscreen is sufficiently wide. The handlebar, clutch and handbrake levers are adjustable and the mirrors provide an excellent rear view. This makes the longest journeys stress-free, even with a passenger and luggage.
 
The engine has also been revamped. The two-cylinder 499 cm3  meets the Euro 5 anti-pollution standard and offers a maximum power output of 48 hp. A welcome bonus is that the torque curve is very pleasant: the 46Nm are available at 6000 rpm. Starting from an idle, the small engine delivers power, unhindered by the machine’s 235kg weight. Its flexibility is remarkable. However, it is best to avoid pushing beyond 6000 rpm, where the high frequency vibrations are very unpleasant.
 
In a nutshell, this Benelli TRK 502 X will appeal to bikers who are looking for adventure and do not want to sacrifice all their savings. Prices start at €7099.
