General Terms and Conditions of Use for myACL
1. Introduction
Welcome to my.acl.lu, the online portal of the Automobile Club du Luxembourg a.s.b.l., 54, route de Longwy, L-8080 Bertrange, RCS Luxembourg F630 (ACL). This portal allows ACL members to access various services, including managing their personal data, setting up a bank account or accessing the archives of Autotouring magazine.
These terms of use govern access to and use of my.acl.lu. By accessing the portal, you accept these terms. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use this website.
2. Access to the portal
2.1. Access authorisation and account creation
Access to the my.acl.lu portal is reserved for active members of the ACL who have a valid user account. To access the portal, you must first create a personal account.
In order to use the portal and the services available, you must have the appropriate hardware that allows you to connect to the internet with a current browser and an internet connection. You are responsible for the proper functioning of this hardware and the costs of its purchase, operation and maintenance, as well as the costs of the internet connection.
2.2. Provision and updating of account information
When creating your personal account, you agree to provide accurate and complete information, including, in particular, your ACL membership number, a valid email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping this information up to date to ensure the proper functioning of your account.
2.3. Security of access data
You are responsible for keeping your password and login details confidential. All activities carried out using your access data are considered to have been carried out under your full and unrestricted responsibility. In the event of loss, accidental disclosure or theft of your access data, you must change your password immediately or inform us immediately so that we can reset your password.
3. Use of the portal
3.1. Services offered
Members have access to various services via the my.acl.lu portal, including:
- Managing your ACL membership (viewing and updating your personal details, setting up a direct debit)
- Viewing related members
- Updating your communication preferences (newsletter and magazine)
- Accessing the Autotouring magazine archive
3.2. Restrictions on use
You agree to use the portal only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms and conditions and applicable legal provisions. Any attempt or action that results in the following:
- Disseminating harmful or inappropriate content via the portal;
- Unauthorised access to the portal’s systems;
- Disruption or impairment of the proper functioning of the portal;
- Promotion or exercise of illegal activities or dissemination of false or misleading information;
- Unlawful or unauthorised copying of content protected by copyright, patents or trademarks;
- Requesting passwords or personal information from other users for illegal commercial purposes;
may result in the suspension or termination of your account, without prejudice to any legal remedies or sanctions that ACL may take against you.
3.3. User responsibility
As a user and owner of a personal account, you are responsible for the use of your personal account and the actions performed through it. You agree to:
- Use the portal in an appropriate manner and in compliance with applicable laws;
- Not compromise the security, performance or integrity of the portal and the information available on it.

5. Intellectual property
5.1. Content of the portal
The content of the portal my.acl.lu, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, videos and software, as well as its appearance and general style and all its components, is the exclusive property of ACL or its partners and licensors and is protected by Luxembourg and international intellectual property laws.
5.2. Use of content
You are not permitted to reproduce, distribute, modify or use the content of the portal, in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of ACL. Any unauthorised use of the content may result in legal action.
Where applicable, ACL hereby grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable and personal licence to use the portal and the associated software exclusively for personal and non-commercial purposes for the duration of your use of the portal as a member.
5.3. Registered trademarks
The logos, trademarks and other distinctive elements on the my.acl.lu portal are the property of the ACL or its partners and licensors and may not be used or reproduced without the prior express written consent of the ACL.
6. Limitation of liability
6.1. Availability of the service
By using the portal, you agree that the services are provided ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ without any express or implied warranty to the extent permitted by law.
ACL endeavours to ensure continuous and uninterrupted access to my.acl.lu. However, we cannot guarantee that the portal will be available at all times without interruption and that no errors or bugs will occur. You acknowledge that access to the portal may be suspended, in particular during planned or unplanned maintenance work. The performance of the portal may be affected in particular by the fluctuating availability and quality of electronic communications networks.
6.2. Liability for unavailability or errors
To the extent permitted by law, ACL disclaims all liability for errors or omissions in the content of the portal or for interruptions in service due to technical malfunctions, updates or planned or unplanned maintenance work. Even though we take the utmost care to provide accurate information, it may nevertheless be out of date, lose its validity or contain errors. You must verify that the information we provide is up to date, accurate and relevant to your intended use.
In particular, ACL disclaims any liability for interruptions or malfunctions of the services offered on the portal that are attributable to:
(i) your failure to comply with these terms and conditions;
(ii) your improper or unlawful use of the portal;
(iii) a case of force majeure, as recognised and interpreted by case law;
(iv) events dependent on third parties such as Internet providers;
(v) your wrongful acts and/or omissions.
6.3. Damages and compensation
To the extent permitted by law, ACL shall not be liable for any indirect damages resulting from the use or inability to use the portal, including, but not limited to: loss of data, loss of profits or damage to reputation.
In any case, to the extent permitted by law, the maximum amount that a user may claim as compensation for damages resulting from the use of the portal or the inability to use it is limited to the sum of the amounts that he or she has paid to the ACL for his or her own membership in the 12 months prior to the damaging event.
6.4. Use of third-party services
Certain features of my.acl.lu may use third-party services, such as online payment providers. The ACL accepts no responsibility for the performance of these third-party services, which are subject to their own terms of use.
7. Termination of access
7.1. Suspension rights
The ACL reserves the right to suspend or terminate a user’s access to the my.acl.lu portal if they violate these terms of use, use the portal in a fraudulent or illegal manner, or for any other legitimate reason as defined by the ACL in these terms and conditions.
7.2. Consequences of termination
In the event of termination of your account:
- You will no longer be able to access the services and features offered on my.acl.lu.
- Your personal data may be stored by the ACL in order to comply with legal requirements or to protect its rights in accordance with applicable regulations.
- You will be notified of this termination by email or other available means of communication.
ACL cannot be held liable if, following the termination of a user account in accordance with the above provisions, access to the services is no longer possible.
8. Changes to the terms and conditions
8.1. Right to make changes
ACL reserves the right to amend these terms of use at any time in order to take account of legal or technical developments or changes to its services. Any changes shall take effect upon publication on the my.acl.lu portal.
8.2. Notification of changes
Users will be informed of any significant changes by email or by a notification on the portal. By continuing to use the portal after the changes have come into effect, you agree to the new terms and conditions. If you do not agree to these changes, you must stop using the portal.
9. Applicable law and jurisdiction
These Terms of Use are governed by Luxembourg law, without prejudice to any more favourable protection provided by the mandatory provisions of the country of residence of the user who is a consumer. Any disputes relating to the interpretation or implementation of these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Luxembourg courts, unless otherwise provided by law.
