As the cold season approaches, ACL Diagnostic Center Manager Frank Maas tells you how to get your car ready for winter. The first thing you need to do is fit your car with some good winter tyres. For clear vision and visibility, it’s important for your vehicle lights to be working properly and that they are adjusted correctly. And you need to make sure that your washer bottle is always topped up and that the wipers are in good condition. According to ACL statistics, breakdowns due to battery problems are always the most common. So remember to check the condition of the battery before winter. If it’s not in good condition, we can change it for you at the ACL Diagnostic Center. It’s also important to check the anti-freeze before winter. The example in the video shows that the anti-freeze level isn’t high enough. If you want to drive safely in winter, braking power needs to be spread uniformly. The shock absorbers are also important for driving safely. It is also important to have all of these tools in your car in winter: scraper, broom, de-icer for the windows and a blanket. All of these products are available in the ACL Shop. Don’t forget that the Highway Code states that any snow needs to be cleared from car and there has to be good visibility through all of the windows. At the ACL Diagnostic Center, we offer a winter check-up where we check all of the important aspects of your vehicle before winter. The test lasts around 50 minutes and costs €39 for ACL members.
