Brand-shining-new! BMW is completely revamping its compact people career with a new platform and cutting-edge technologies. The Active Tourer is larger all round and offers greater passenger space and comfort and improved engine options, which cover pretty much all bases! That said, while there are diesel, petrol, mild-hybrid petrol and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions available with 3 and 4-cylinder combustion engines, there are currently no plans for a 100% electric version, though there is likely to be an ‘i’ product. We particularly enjoyed test driving the 223i and xDrive 230e, the petrol and PHEV models that offer the best levels of performance, at its international presentation in Malaga. While we really enjoyed the particularly well-balanced handling of the former, the latter offers an impressive level of sports performance (100km/h in 5.5 seconds) and electric range (90km).
