ACL child seat tests

Published on 10.06.2020

A wide choice of “good” seats to safely install your child

33 new seats for children of all sizes have been tested by European Automobile Clubs, among which the ACL, and the ICRT organisation. The “very good” rating was awarded once to the Silver Cross Dream seat + i-Size Base, and twenty-two seats were rated “good”.  Two seats failed the tests, however, and were rated “unsatisfactory”.

The tests focused on safety in head-on and side collisions, handling, comfort and usage characteristics (cleaning and finishes). The scope of the tests was completed by tests on the ergonomics and toxic substance content. The objective here was to test the space and sitting position of the child and the parts in contact with the child.

As the range of products on offer is evolving all the time, our tests focused on the most recent models. These are products compliant with UN/ECE Regulation  129 (known as the “i-Size” standard) and restraint systems of all sizes as per UN/ECE Regulation  44 (in the five weight classes: 0, 0+, I, II and III).

Details of each seat are available on request from the ACL by calling 45 00 45-1 or e-mailing acl@acl.lu.

Please note that the second-hand child seat sale will not take place this year.
