Citroën, which has not presented a lot of electric vehicles yet, has just unveiled an all-new model: the Ami. A small 100% electric city car with which Citroën hopes to bring a new form of mobility to users.
A big cube of 2.41m long, 1.39m wide and 1.52m high, the Citroën Ami is not necessarily a dream car. To be exact, the Ami is not a car in the true sense of the word.
The 100% electric Citroën has a range of 70 km and can be recharged in 3 hours. Its 6 kW engine enables it to reach a top speed of 45 km/h. Convenient in size and in view of these features, the Ami has been specially designed for urban use.
Despite its minimalist exterior appearance, the interior space is decent enough. Although reduced to the essentials, the interior includes two seats, a dashboard, instruments behind the steering wheel, a USB port and a smartphone docking station in the center that can be used as a multimedia screen. In terms of options, Citroën has kept heating, ventilation and demisting to a strict minimum.
As the front and rear sides are similar and the color of their headlights the only difference is, the Citroën Ami has no boot. However, storage space has been provided inside the cabin with large bins in the doors or on the dashboard, which is very practical when you have small errands to do.
Adapting to the needs of today's population, it won't be necessary to own an Ami to take advantage of it. It will be possible to rent it by day, by hour and even by minute - via the PSA Group's Free2Move application - but also to share a car. The first sales are scheduled for the end of March. The sale price in Luxembourg is not yet known but it should hover around € 6,900 as announced for the French market.
And as Citroën hasn't finished surprising us yet, it will be possible to buy your Ami vehicle on the Fnac and Darty platforms! An idea as original as their car.
La saison froide arrive prochainement, tout comme la période de l'Avent.
