"The tram makes its first journey"

Published on 12/07/2017

Mobility
From 12 July 2017 onwards, Luxtram will start the test phase during which all the features of the tramway will be checked. The tram will run on its platform to Kirchberg.
The test phase will take place in several stages:

Switching on of the overhead contact line: from 10 July, the tramway overhead line will be switched on at 750 V DC around the clock. With the switching on of the overhead contact line, any work along the front and near the power infrastructure of the tram on Avenue Kennedy requires the prior authorisation of Luxtram and the City of Luxembourg.

Contact:            info@l uxtram.lu;         Tel.: 27 20 39 -1.

Circulation of the first carriage to Kirchberg: from 12 July until the end of October, the tram will run on its platform and will share public space with other users.

Trial run: In November, the tram will run under normal conditions, but without passengers.

Commercial service: from 10 December 2017 onwards, the tram will be open to the public.

A communication tool –"The tram makes its first journey"– in several languages will accompany this phase so that everyone is well informed and uses the public space together as best possible.

Billboards will be installed in strategic locations, an information leaflet (in digital and paper format) will be distributed, a video will be released and all information will be available on the Luxtram website.
