The universal spare wheel

AN INNOVATIVE SPARE WHEEL FROM THE ACL

According to ACL statistics, tyres are the second most frequent cause of breakdowns after batteries, due primarily to damage caused by metal objects, poorly maintained roads, sharp edges and curbs. With many vehicles today coming with no spare wheel or with only a puncture repair kit, which is often not very effective, ACL members are now able to take advantage of our recently launched innovative spare wheel.

The universal spare wheel consists of four adaptors complete with various axle holes meaning that it can be adapted to fit the hub of your car’s wheels. This temporary piece attaches to the hub using the wheel nuts and bolts since the threads are identical.  The outside of the adaptor features a series of pins to hold the spare wheel in place. Were these pins to be found to be too long, for example, the ACL mechanic would rectify the situation using special washers. Likewise, if your vehicle is fitted with larger brakes, we can also adapt the universal tyre to your vehicle using the spacers provided for this purpose.

As this is merely a temporary emergency solution, the vehicle is then limited to a maximum speed of 80km/h. The universal spare wheel is compatible with up to 75% of all car models. The service is available exclusively to ACL members and includes having the wheel fitted by an ACL technician in return for the payment of a €100 deposit. You can then return the equipment to one of our partners or directly to the ACL head office in Bertrange within five days in accordance with the agreed conditions to have your deposit returned. This new solution enables us to intervene even more quickly in order to limit the inconvenience caused by a breakdown as much as possible, in keeping with the values we have adopted.
