Luxembourg motorists wishing to drive in the Brussels low emission zone (LEZ) will have to register.
This registration request is free and must be made beforehand of your visit via the electronic form.
Originally scheduled for 1 July 2018, the measure was postponed to 1 August. Registration is free; unlike France or Germany, no sticker or pass is needed. Beware of websites offering stickers for sale; they are not necessary or even valid to drive in the Brussels LEZ.
The Brussels environmental zone has been operational since 1 January. It applies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The whole area of the Brussels-Capital Region is included in the LEZ (all 19 municipalities). The Ring Road is not involved.
Initially, the only vehicles that cannot be driven in Brussels will be EURO 1 standard diesel vehicles or those with no EURO emission standard. Be advised; even if your vehicle is not one of the prohibited vehicles, LEZ registration is mandatory if it is not registered in Belgium.
For more information on the Brussels LEZ and on automatic exemptions (e.g. two-wheeled motor vehicles) or exemptions on request (e.g. historic vehicles registered abroad), please refer to the website https://www.lez.brussels/fr
