Since February 1st, Antwerp’s city center and part of the left bank became low-emission traffic zones.
Cars that are considered most polluting can’t access those zones anymore. On the website www.sna.be/en/lez, you can not only check if your vehicle is allowed to enter those zones, you can also register your vehicle, since vehicles, belonging to the categories which can enter the zones and which are registered in a foreign country, can only access if they are registered online beforehand.
As a matter of fact, contrary to France and Germany, the compliance with this new obligation will not be controlled by the apposition of an environmental badge, but by a video surveillance system scanning all license plates and comparing those to a list of authorized vehicles.
Vehicles that are registered in a foreign country (except for the Netherlands) will be on this list only after the registration of the vehicles data.
